Karen DeGroot Carter

Karen DeGroot Carter is a native of Syracuse, New York, and a graduate of Syracuse University, where she studied journalism and fine arts. She lives in Denver with her husband and three children and is the author of the novel One Sister’s Song from Pearl Street Publishing of Denver. While One Sister’s Song explores issues faced by people of mixed-race heritage, Carter’s blog, BEYOND Understanding (www.sustenancescout.blogspot.com) highlights a wide range of resources that celebrate diversity and promote tolerance.
